Position Overview

The Barts Health Pharmacy Department is seeking a proactive and motivated professional with substantial clinical expertise in acute and emergency medicine to become a vital member of our Pharmacy team. The successful candidate will deliver advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients within the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit and acute medicine, while also supporting the Emergency Department to ensure the effective, safe, and economical use of medications.

You will be an integral part of both the pharmacy team and the Trust's acute and emergency care team, offering professional pharmaceutical governance, medication safety, information, financial oversight, education, and training, as well as medication optimization support to both the team and the patients we serve.

Moreover, the ideal candidate will contribute significantly to the establishment of a continuous 7-day working schedule, ensuring ongoing pharmaceutical support and enhancing patient care. The objective is to develop a comprehensive 7-day Pharmacy service across acute and emergency sectors, with the post holder collaborating with team members to facilitate a flexible working arrangement across the week, which will be discussed and agreed upon.

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will undertake a comprehensive range of responsibilities as the Advanced Clinical Pharmacist for Emergency Medicine, ensuring the delivery of patient-focused, high-quality care.

The pharmacist will provide specialized and advanced clinical and professional pharmaceutical services to patients in the Emergency Department, SDEC Unit, and acute medicine areas under the auspices of Barts Health NHS Trust, promoting the effective, safe, and economical use of medications. You will play a pivotal role within the Trust's emergency care team, delivering professional pharmaceutical governance, medication safety, information, financial oversight, education, and training, as well as medication optimization support to the team and the patients we serve. Building relationships and collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners will be essential to ensure the provision of high-quality pharmaceutical care to all patients.
