Hourly Rate: £35 - £40
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Gap Technical Ltd is pleased to present an opportunity for a Safety and Compliance Specialist to join a leading food production organization located in the Wigan area.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Formulation: Develop, review, and enhance health and safety policies to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Hazard Evaluation: Perform regular assessments and safety inspections to identify risks. Formulate strategies for risk mitigation and corrective measures.
- Training & Development: Create and implement training programs for staff on health and safety protocols, emergency response, and equipment usage.
- Incident Analysis: Oversee investigations into workplace accidents and near-misses. Document outcomes, generate reports, and execute preventive measures.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety laws. Maintain necessary documentation and reports as mandated.
- Safety Advocacy: Foster a safety-first culture within the organization. Encourage employee involvement in safety initiatives and programs.
- Health & Safety Committee Leadership: Chair the Health & Safety Committee, ensuring regular meetings and follow-up on action items.
- Safe Systems of Work: Implement and review Safe Systems of Work as necessary.
Candidate Profile
- Preferred qualification: NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health).
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a health and safety capacity within the food production sector.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and other relevant health and safety standards.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and health & safety management software.
- Ability to conduct effective training sessions and presentations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.
