VMA GROUP is proud to partner with Stonewall, a leading LGBTQ+ rights organisation, to recruit a Head of Policy and Public Affairs to support its work in advancing and defending LGBTQ+ rights.


Stonewall's mission is to create a world where everyone, everywhere is free to be themselves. This new position will play a critical role in achieving this goal by leading the delivery of Stonewall's policy and advocacy work in Parliament, across the nations, and with the UK Government.


The successful candidate will report to the Director of Campaigns and Human Rights and manage a team to deliver the charity's vision, using their specialist experience to develop and implement effective policy and advocacy strategies.


The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience at a national level in a charity, membership organisation, or similar, with a proven track record of delivering impactful public-facing campaigns. They will also have a deep understanding of Westminster and the ability to leverage government relationships to secure and deliver change.


The Head of Policy and Public Affairs will be accountable for building and maintaining key UK Government and political relationships aligned to Stonewall's policy priorities. They will also ensure the organisation is contributing to the development of effective policy positions, arguments, and outputs to build support for its thought leadership work across the UK.


The role will involve supporting and developing a team of 5 direct reports, with a focus on creating an inclusive and empathetic work environment. The successful candidate will also be responsible for ensuring that the voices of all communities Stonewall represents are heard in the decisions it makes, with a particular focus on trans and BAME communities.


This is a unique opportunity to join a leading organisation that makes a real impact nationally and internationally. The successful candidate will be based in London and will require regular presence in and around Westminster.
