Energy Storage Systems Technician

Position Overview:
As a Service Technician at Canadian Solar, you will play a vital role in the maintenance and support of our energy storage systems. Your expertise will ensure that our equipment operates efficiently and meets the highest standards of performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commissioning of the Solbank Storage Power Block for CSI Energy Storage.
- Conduct both preventative and corrective maintenance on Storage Power Blocks to comply with warranty specifications.
- Manage obligations for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) equipment under Long-Term Service Agreements (LTSA), which may encompass:
- Energy Storage Cabinets (ESCs)
- Power Conversion Stations (PCS)
- Ring Main Units (RMUs) / Switchgear
- Transformers
- SCADA and networking devices
- Provide on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and hands-on support to maintain equipment, ensuring availability and capacity guarantees.
- Participate in a current call-out rota on a 4 in 1 basis.
- Oversee and manage subcontractors on-site as necessary.
- Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and processes.
- Complete work order documentation promptly.
- Ensure accurate inventory management of spare parts.
- Implement proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and switching procedures as required.
- Support client training during the commissioning phase.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and policies.
- Fulfill additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Electrical Technician.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a service environment, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
- CSCS Certification.
- Prior training and knowledge of inverters.
- Experience with SCADA systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with general and national codes, medium voltage power systems, and energy storage system applications is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel).
- Previous experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- First Aid Training.
- Willingness to travel to regional locations as required (over 80% of the time).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrated professional appearance and conduct.
