Database Support Engineer Opportunity

Sterlings is partnering with a Financial Services Company to seek a skilled Database Support Engineer to join their EMEA Technology team.

The team is responsible for driving support for the Microsoft SQL Server estate, collaborating closely with Application Support and other technology stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to Incident & Request tickets and monitoring alerts
  • Ensuring all database servers are backed up in accordance with the company's recovery objectives
  • Configuring SQL Server monitoring tools to minimize false alarms
  • Performing regular patching of SQL Servers and deploying database change scripts provided by third-party vendors
  • Identifying proactive solutions to increase performance, including hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
  • Assisting in the migration of databases from On-Premise to Cloud technologies like AWS

Requirements include:

  • Experience in building and operating highly available, complex customer-facing systems at scale in a 24x7 environment
  • Knowledge of database security
  • Strong understanding of enterprise monitoring solutions such as Nagios and HP Arcsight

This role offers a hybrid working week with 3 days in the office and 2 working from home.
