Watson Woodhouse & Macks Solicitors, a leading law firm with a 30-year history, is seeking a highly skilled Employment Solicitor to join its esteemed team at the Darlington office.

About the Role

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor with 2 years of experience in employment law to handle a wide range of cases, including discrimination, harassment, disciplinary procedures, and unfair dismissal. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of employment law principles, procedures, and relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of both Respondent and Applicant work from commencement to conclusion
  • Representation at Tribunal, including advocacy services
  • Consideration of settlement options in the client's best interests
  • Manage client work expeditiously and in accordance with detailed procedures and quality standards
  • Consider various funding options with clients
  • Ensure payment for work on account is obtained before commencement of work
  • Comply with the Solicitors' Accounts Rules and the Solicitors' Code of Conduct 2007
  • Keep clients fully up-to-date in both oral and written communications
  • Ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations
  • Undertake specific training when required and take responsibility for own self-development
  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities that may be required by the Directors

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with 2 years of experience in employment law
  • Strong knowledge of employment law principles, procedures, and relevant legislation
  • Proven track record of handling complex employment law cases with professionalism and sensitivity
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Exceptional client management and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong time management skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and ethical standards
