Oxford Brookes University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its Finance and Legal Services team. As a key member of the team, you will provide legal advice and support to the university's £216m business activities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and exempt charitable status.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of matters, including contracts, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct detailed research and drafting of legal documents, including contracts and policies.
- Collaborate with the university's senior management team to develop and implement legal strategies.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of legal matters.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and regulations, and provide guidance on their impact on the university's operations.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a lawyer in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, contract law, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex legal information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
