We are looking for a proactive and committed Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to become a vital member of our medicines optimization team. The ideal candidate will engage with the homecare delivery model, aiding in the expansion and administration of various service frameworks, thereby broadening their expertise in diverse operational models. The successful applicant will also have the chance to participate in initiatives aimed at achieving Cost Improvement Programmes. Furthermore, there will be encouragement to pursue the independent prescribing qualification if not already acquired, to facilitate cost-effective prescribing practices.

To maintain clinical proficiency, the post holder will allocate time for clinical pharmacy duties, which will be integrated into their work schedule and may fluctuate based on service demands.

This position offers a unique opportunity to cultivate leadership capabilities and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide exceptional patient care while engaging in high-value cost-efficiency projects.

Main Responsibilities

Support the pharmacy management of medication value and homecare on a daily basis alongside the Lead Pharmacist - Medicines Optimization.

Encourage cost-effective medication prescribing in accordance with the organizational formulary and medication value initiatives, promoting the implementation of biosimilars and generics to optimize Cost Improvement Programme outcomes.

Assist in the execution of the homecare medicines service model to ensure efficient delivery while closely collaborating with the Lead Technician and Pharmacist for Medicines Optimization.

Contribute to the strategic planning and business development of pharmacy services focusing on medicines optimization, medication value, and homecare.

Participate in the provision of routine clinical pharmacy services across various departments, and fulfill departmental responsibilities as scheduled, including duties in the Dispensary.

Facilitate education and training for medical, nursing, and pharmacy personnel, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervising designated junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy care to patients in assigned wards, supporting medical, nursing, and other healthcare professionals in specialized areas, while assisting in the clinical and cost-effective utilization of medications.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Master's Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Professional registration as a Pharmacist in the UK
  • Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy diploma or relevant experience in a specialist area
  • Pharmacist independent Prescribing national accreditation or intent to pursue qualification

  • Relevant hospital pharmacy experience to acquire necessary competencies
  • Recent clinical ward experience in a general hospital setting
  • Experience in specialist services relevant to the position
