Job Summary

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Faculty position in the College of Agriculture at the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, research, and extension activities in the field of agriculture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach up to 18 credit hours per academic semester in-person, online, or through synchronous/asynchronous modalities.
  • Provide regular office hours to meet student needs and promote student success.
  • Conduct research and extension activities in the field of agriculture.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to engage students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement academic programs.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in the specific teaching field or a Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field and/or relevant industry experience.
  • PhD preferred.
  • Proficiency to teach courses in agriculture, family & consumer science, textiles, apparel, dietetics, hospitality management, and agriculture research.
  • Effective communication skills in both verbal and written English.
  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student and faculty population.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD preferred.
  • Prior teaching/research/extension experience in a higher education environment highly preferred.
  • Certification specific to teaching/research/extension highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems.
