Residential Children's Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Residential Children's Support Specialist to join our specialist support worker team at Randstad Care. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-level support to children and young people in crisis, creating safe environments and offering a deep understanding of how trauma and life experiences impact their behaviors and communication.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day support to children and young people, including activities, appointments, and family contact.
- Engage and encourage children and young people to participate in activities and form structure.
- Accurately report and provide information to support the development of care plans and goals.
- Play a critical role in the safety and well-being of children and young people.
- Experience supporting children and young people in a residential setting.
- Confidence to work with colleagues in challenging situations to de-escalate situations.
- Experience using de-escalation techniques to keep children and young people safe.
- Ability to make decisions and take action in challenging situations.
- Understanding of detailed and accurate daily record keeping and incident reporting.
- Ability to be creative when engaging and establishing trust with children and young people.
- Demonstrate sound communication and judgment.
- Clarity over protecting personal and professional boundaries at all times.
- Elevated pay rate exceeding local pay rates.
- Rolling rota offering consistency and predictability.

As a Residential Children's Support Specialist, you will have the opportunity to dedicate your experience and skills to a child or young person, providing day-to-day support and creating a safe and supportive environment. You will work closely with colleagues to de-escalate challenging situations and provide accurate reports and information to support the development of care plans and goals.

- Calmness during crisis situations.
- Confidence in your experience to support you making prompt decisions on a daily basis.
- Understanding of how trauma, previous experiences, and diagnoses can impact day-to-day behaviors of children and young people.
- Non-judgmental attitude, keeping an open mind and refraining from criticizing even during challenging situations.
- Resilience to continue supporting through particularly stressful situations and to keep trying new ways to engage and build trust.
- Observant, with heightened awareness levels and the ability to share insights through reports and meetings with other professionals.
