About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales and Project Specialist to join our Sales and Projects Team at Howden, A Chart Industries Company. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and delivering exceptional customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support our sales process, including site visits and collaboration with colleagues to tender for work.
  • Prospect for new business opportunities, researching and contacting potential customers to understand their needs and develop solutions.
  • Manage assigned projects and work packages, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant new technologies, legal, safety, contractual, and export compliance regulations.
  • Maintain the highest levels of quality assurance for all activities within the scope of the role.
  • Own work scopes, risk assessments, method statements, and other associated procedures for maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning of assigned products.
  • Ensure health and safety at work procedures are observed while on site, and complete all required risk assessments.
  • Secure orders by evaluating customer needs, responding promptly and correctly, and offering pricing that maximizes profit for the company.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and progress orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide technical liaison between the company and clients on new enquiries, understanding and interpreting customer requirements, and delivering competitive technical and commercial proposals.
  • Assist in developing growth strategies and plans by building on successes and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Promptly follow up on enquiries to maximize order intake.
Requirements
  • Mechanical Engineering Diploma or equivalent.
  • Time served Indentured Apprenticeship to a recognized National Standard.
  • Expert knowledge and firsthand experience of assigned products, including troubleshooting, overhaul, repair, fault finding, installation, and commissioning.
  • Self-starter with a drive to take responsibility for all aspects of the role.
  • Customer-focused with demonstrable experience.
  • Able to produce detailed written technical documents, including site reports, root cause analysis of failures, method statements, scopes of work, and project plans.
  • Project Management skillset with demonstrable experience.
  • Ability to supervise others at site during complex installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or as an individual.
  • Good appreciation and understanding of business and commercial issues related to the role.
  • An eye for detail and working diligently to ensure activities are fully completed to conclusion.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
