Position Overview

We are seeking an Experienced Aircraft Assembler to join our team at Morson Talent. This role involves working on a long-term contract, contributing to significant projects within the aerospace sector.

Key Information:

Applicants should possess a level 3 indentured apprenticeship in a relevant discipline or an NVQ Level 3, complemented by 3-5 years of experience in the aerospace industry.

Candidates will be required to showcase their expertise through a Trade Test, which will assess skills in metallic structural assembly, including drilling, riveting, countersinking, and bolting.

Working Hours: 35 hours per week

Schedule: Primarily a 4-day work week, typically from Monday to Thursday, with potential adjustments communicated in advance. Standard hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:15 PM.

Shift Pattern: Core Days

Compensation: £17.93 PAYE

Overtime Rates: Weekday Overtime at £22.41, Weekend Overtime at £26.90

Security Clearance: Baseline Security Clearance is required prior to commencement.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Function as a versatile and adaptable worker to maximize productivity and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with hand and machine tools utilized in the aircraft manufacturing sector, including:
    • Precision riveting
    • Drilling, reaming, and countersinking using specialized tools
    • Setting up structures in assembly jigs
    • Deburring components
    • Fettling with approved tools
    • Touch-up treatments on aluminum surfaces
    • Operating CNC pillar drills

Key Deliverables:

  • Ensure components are produced accurately on the first attempt.
  • Verify that all calibrated equipment is within the required date.
  • Manage the timely completion of work phases using the SAP system.
  • Report any non-conformance issues to the Process Team Leader.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety regulations as outlined in Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974.
  • Maintain first-party inspection approval (M02 status contingent upon obtaining A stamp approval).
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization within the workspace.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Recognized indentured apprenticeship and prior experience in an aircraft production environment are essential.
  • Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively within small teams alongside Process Team Leaders.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Self-motivated team player with strong communication abilities.
