We are looking for skilled professionals to engage in a long-term contract. As a prominent player in the aerospace sector, our client supports the world's foremost aircraft and engine manufacturers.

Position: Aircraft Assembly Technician - 12/7 Shift

Compensation: The base hourly rate for skilled technicians is £17.72 PAYE, with a 28% uplift for the 7-day fortnight. The first week schedule includes Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a day rate of £22.68 for skilled technicians without certification.

Additionally, we offer a retention bonus of £500 after three months and another £500 after six months.

Training: Technicians will undergo 12 weeks of training on day shifts to obtain necessary certifications.

Location: Western Approach - Fixed Training Edge

Security Clearance: Baseline security clearance is required. Candidates can begin the process with ongoing security checks, provided that necessary forms are submitted.

Criminal Record Check: A fee of £18 applies for this check.

Qualifications: While certifications are beneficial, they are not mandatory. Candidates should possess 3-5 years of aerospace-related experience and will be required to complete a trade test involving drilling, riveting, and countersinking with composite materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble aircraft main wing assemblies and sub-assemblies from detailed components.
  • Utilize appropriate assembly techniques, tools, and fixtures in accordance with technical specifications.
  • Perform drilling, reaming, and countersinking of both composite and metallic parts.
  • Set aircraft components in calibrated build jigs.
  • Deburr and manage under-head radius of aircraft components and assemblies.
  • Engage in local continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in assembling aircraft components using technical drawings and processes.
  • Ability to interpret aircraft drawings, limits, and quality assurance systems.
  • Proficiency in operating CNC machinery as required.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within small teams.
  • Willingness to undergo training in composite manufacturing techniques and processes.
  • Familiarity with IT systems, including SAP and Microsoft Office applications.
