Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team as an Advanced Physiotherapist within the Integrated Community Stroke Team, covering the Furness and South Lakes area.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide outstanding, personalised and compassionate care to stroke survivors, working alongside the multidisciplinary team to provide consistent leadership and drive quality improvement.

The role involves supporting the assessment and treatment of stroke survivors, assisting with discharge planning, family/carer communication, attending daily/weekly multidisciplinary team meetings, providing goal-led rehabilitation, delegation of work and overseeing complex patients, supporting junior staff as required, and liaison with the wider multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

The service covers both the acute and community setting, providing evidence-based rehabilitation to those who have experienced a stroke. The service provides intensive and routine input to those who have goal-specific needs, across the geographical footprint of Morecambe Bay.

The service currently runs as a 6-day acute service, with the future aim of being a 7-day acute service and 6-day community service.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a BSc degree or postgraduate diploma in Physiotherapy, be registered with the HCPC, and have evidence of relevant postgraduate training or experience. They will also have previously completed their core rotations and have experience of respiratory needs, as well as experience of mentoring, assessing, teaching and developing staff.

The successful applicant will also have a strong understanding of clinical governance and experience of audit. Membership of an appropriate specialist interest group is desirable, as is change management experience and the ability to develop expert practice.
