About the Job
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Business Office, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of our financial resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide fiscal support by performing accounts payable and processing resident funds for the Business Office.
- Support the Business Operations Manager in agency procurement efforts, including physical inventory and fixed assets.
- Review, control, and report expenditures to remain within budgeted allocations.
- Ensure all funds are expended appropriately and within permissible parameters.
- Process vendor invoices for payment by matching vendor invoices with corresponding requisitions, purchase orders, and receiving reports.
- Maintain outstanding requisition/purchase order files and ensure all procurement documents are maintained in an auditable condition.
Requirements
- Considerable knowledge of procurement practices and procedures.
- Proficient knowledge of computer applications, including Word and Excel, to create spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply financial policies and procedures.
- Ability to provide administrative support and excellent customer service while performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and interpret and apply policy, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to reconcile internal fiscal records to external systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Considerable experience in business office fiscal duties.
- Experience working with the public and proficient expertise in PC operation.
- Experience performing data entry into automated financial systems and computerized asset tracking applications.
