Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Analysis Engineer to join our Expanded Piling business unit at Laing O'Rourke.

The successful candidate will have experience of both designing and pricing piling scope, with a strong technical acumen and a positive interest in engineering and geology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Liaison: To understand and deliver the client's requirements, liaising with designers, clients, and main contractors to optimize the best engineering solution.
  • Piling Technique Selection: To ensure the appropriate selection of piling technique is chosen to suit the project ground conditions.
  • Geotechnical Analysis and Design: To undertake geotechnical analysis and design using in-house and commercially available software, in accordance with the relevant codes of practice, and prepare detailed geotechnical design reports for submission to clients.
  • Tendering and Negotiation: To cost, budget, tender, negotiate, and secure orders for a variety of piling systems, while maximizing business profits.
  • Settlement Packs and Contract Design: To prepare settlement packs for review by the business at settlement meetings and prepare contract design documents, drawings, and schedules.
  • Risk Awareness: To design with awareness of risk, including H&S, geotechnical, and commercial aspects.
  • Design Support: To liaise and provide design support to the operation team during the installation phase to ensure correct design is fully implemented.
  • As-Built Documentation: To produce as-built documentation post-construction.
  • Client Relationships: To develop long-lasting relationships with clients to encourage repeat business.
  • Collaboration: To coordinate and respond to client requests by gaining experience from colleagues and collaborate with other Laing O'Rourke business units to achieve shared end goals.
Requirements:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK with a valid work permit.
  • Experience of undertaking pile designs using modeling packages or well-developed digital literacy.
  • Experience of pricing piling enquiries.
  • Ability to work in isolation and communicate complex technical matters simply and clearly, both in writing and verbally.
  • UK Driving License.
