Marine Ecologist Senior Specialist

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Marine Ecologist to join our team as an Associate Director. As a senior member of our marine ecology team, you will provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice, internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice to support the delivery of marine-based projects.
- Manage inputs to a wide range of workstreams and deliverables across a broad range of projects, including involvement in the full EIA or DCO development cycle of major projects.
- Deliver marine ecology impact assessments, including ES chapters and associated assessments (HRA, MCZ and WFD), and information to support the full range of licence and permitting applications needed for marine-based projects.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve the environmental outcomes of our projects, including specialists in underwater acoustics, coastal processes, water scientists, and marine archaeologists.
- Contribute to work winning, including developing technical and fee proposals, as well as more general marketing and business development, including internal and external presentations and client liaison.
- Project management: make effective use of your project management skills, appropriately managing resources and budgets, and support on procurement and management of specialist subcontractors when needed.
- Mentoring: help develop and train more junior members of the team.
- A recognised degree in a relevant discipline such as marine biology/ecology or a related biological or science discipline, and ideally an appropriate professional membership (CIEEM or similar).
- Comprehensive marine ecological expertise with demonstrable experience in the preparation and review of specialist technical chapters and all associated impact assessments, including but not limited to HRA, MCZ and WFD.
- A detailed understanding of the marine consenting and licensing regimes across the UK, with experience liaising with, and submitting licence applications, to the key regulatory bodies.
- Understanding of inputs from other technical disciplines, such as acoustics, coastal and geological processes, as well as engineers and designers, able to define modelling and/or data required for the completion of marine assessments.
- Ability to provide technical advice and application of advanced scientific practices, theories, and technologies for a diverse range of marine projects.
