As a Senior Quantity Surveyor within our Decommissioning and Waste Services (DWS) team, part of our Nuclear & Power Division, you will lead and manage teams on significant nuclear projects, ensuring sustainable and safe decommissioning practices. Collaborating closely with colleagues, clients, stakeholders, and contractors, you will also have the opportunity to mentor others while advancing your own career.

DWS employs over 250 professionals, supported by a robust supply chain, generating over £40 million in revenue through various decommissioning and waste management frameworks. Our scope has broadened in recent years, creating diverse and expanding opportunities. Our commercial function is essential for growth in alignment with business delivery.
This pivotal role is integral to the DWS Commercial Team and will serve as a key liaison for our Joint Venture Partners and Clients.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and support colleagues across the DWS business to enhance our innovative and sustainable commercial team.
- Manage and coordinate approximately £60 million per annum of contractual expenditure, including the organization and reporting of comprehensive information (e.g., Defined Cost, Disallowed Cost, invoicing, and timesheets), primarily within Joint Venture settings.
- With assistance, develop and implement advanced 'work-smart' tools to automate and improve your role's effectiveness, fostering increased productivity and enhancing overall team performance. This may involve the implementation and testing of Artificial Intelligence and Process Automation.
- Exhibit commercial and collaborative leadership across a variety of Clients and Supply Chain Partners, particularly with Sellafield Limited. Your focus will be on optimizing Contract delivery (primarily NEC3 and NEC4) while collaboratively addressing the complexities associated with customized terms and conditions.
- Manage Client commercial interactions, including Early Warnings, Variations, and conflict resolution processes, with a keen understanding of when to escalate risks or issues effectively.
- Oversee procurement processes, including strategy development, tendering, negotiation, and execution of key Framework Agreements, with a strong emphasis on Small and Medium Enterprises.
- Guide the Social Value agenda of DWS from a commercial standpoint.
- Facilitate performance incentivization strategies that enhance Client satisfaction while improving AtkinsRéalis' margins through effective savings delivery and collaborative practices.
- Support the development of an integrated commercial team by collaborating with Project Management and Project Controls throughout the entire project lifecycle.
- Extensive knowledge of contractual frameworks, with significant experience in managing Contractor payment processes (NEC3 and NEC4 experience preferred).
- Proven track record of proactive collaborative behaviors (ISO44001:2017 knowledge considered advantageous).
- Experience with online contract and commercial management platforms (e.g., CEMAR, Asite, EuroDyn, BravoSolutions).
- Understanding of risk management, particularly in relation to Commercial Risk and Risk Treatment strategies.
- Experience in optimizing and selecting various contract options (e.g., NEC ECC vs PSC vs TSC vs SC and NEC Main Options A/B/C/D/E/F/G desirable - JCT / FIDIC / equivalent also considered).
- Capability in Programme monitoring and reporting, including evaluation against EVM, CPI, SPI, and basic assessment of construction or demolition programmes from a commercial perspective.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or equivalent).
- Chartered Professional Status preferred (MRICS, MCIPS or equivalent).
