Your Role

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be a trusted advisor, collaborating closely with clients from various industries. You'll work independently or lead small teams to design and develop end-to-end analytical solutions that improve existing processes and drive data-driven insights.

Responsibilities
  • Become a trusted advisor for our clients, working with stakeholders ranging from data owners and analysts to C-level executives.
  • Independently manage complex data engineering projects or lead small teams to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Design and develop robust analytical layers, including cloud data warehouses, data lakes, ETL/ELT pipelines, and orchestration jobs.
  • Utilize modern tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, Fivetran, and dbt, and demonstrate your expertise through relevant certifications.
  • Write clean, maintainable code in SQL, Python, and Spark, adhering to software engineering best practices like Git and CI/CD.
  • Support the deployment of data science and machine learning projects into production environments. (Note: You will not be developing machine learning models or algorithms.)
Your Profile

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual with a passion for solving business problems through data. You are a self-starter who enjoys working independently and collaboratively to build analytical tools that empower users.

  • Hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrate experience managing stakeholders and collaborating effectively with clients.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have 5+ years of experience working with relational databases and query languages.
  • Have 5+ years of experience building data pipelines in production environments, handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Have 5+ years of experience in data modeling (e.g., star schema, entity-relationship).
  • Have 5+ years of experience writing clean, maintainable, and robust code in Python, Scala, Java, or similar languages.
  • Be able to manage individual workstreams independently and lead small teams of 1-2 people.
  • Demonstrate expertise in software engineering concepts and best practices.
  • Have experience with DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience working with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Google BigQuery, AWS Redshift, Microsoft Synapse) is preferred.
  • Experience working with cloud ETL/ELT tools (Fivetran, dbt, Matillion, Informatica, Talend, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
  • Experience working with Apache Spark is preferred.
  • Experience preparing data for analytics and following a data science workflow to drive business results is preferred.
  • Consulting experience is a plus.
