Museum Store Director

Job Summary:
The Museum Store Manager plays a vital role in the success of the Association of Academic Museums & Galleries, overseeing the daily operations of the museum shop. This position requires a unique blend of retail expertise, customer service skills, and knowledge of the museum's mission and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a retail strategy that aligns with the museum's vision and objectives
- Manage the shop's inventory, including purchasing, receiving, and stocking merchandise
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for visitors
- Collaborate with museum staff to develop marketing and promotional campaigns to drive sales and increase visibility
- Manage the shop's finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control
- Supervise and train sales staff, student workers, and volunteers to ensure excellent customer service and a smooth shopping experience
Requirements:
- High school degree plus a minimum of four years of related work experience in a retail environment or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Experience in a museum shop or similar retail environment is preferred
- Excellent communication, organizational, customer service, and management skills
- Ability to work weekends and occasional evening hours
