Position Overview

Express Diagnostics is seeking to enhance its team of Clinical Audiologists. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Band 5 Audiologist to join our supportive and dynamic Audiology Department.

Our services primarily focus on Hearing Evaluations and the Fitting of Hearing Devices for Adults, although experience in both Adult and Pediatric Audiology is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will become a vital member of our Clinical Audiology Team, delivering a thorough diagnostic and rehabilitative service, including managing patients with intricate audio-vestibular challenges.

You will be required to conduct home visits, thus a readiness to travel locally and access to a vehicle is necessary.

A commitment to ongoing professional development is essential, with in-house training and comprehensive clinical supervision provided by our department.

Job Duties

  • Independently manage the Audiological care and treatment of patients referred from various primary care practitioners.
  • Conduct a comprehensive array of diagnostic assessments, including pure tone audiometry, middle ear function tests, otoacoustic emissions, and speech audiometry.
  • Tailor diagnostic evaluations to be age and ability-appropriate while maintaining assessment integrity.
  • Utilize suitable prescription methods to select and fit a complete range of hearing devices and assistive listening technologies for adults, employing real ear measurement techniques.
  • Create and implement effective individual aural rehabilitation plans to enhance patient communication skills, promoting social integration and improved well-being.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze and integrate clinical findings from various assessments with theoretical principles to justify treatment recommendations.
  • Document diagnostic results with suggested treatment options, progressing to a personalized rehabilitative care plan in collaboration with other relevant professionals.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with company policy and effectively utilize the departmental Patient Management System.
  • Ensure the safe operation of audiological equipment, including audiometers and hearing aid programming systems, conducting regular calibration and safety checks.
  • Provide sensitive and complex information to hearing-impaired patients and their caregivers, utilizing persuasive and empathetic communication skills to gain agreement on treatment plans.
  • Conduct home visits to deliver appropriate audiological assessments and rehabilitative care.

Candidate Profile

Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience as an Audiologist in either an NHS or private healthcare setting.

Desirable

  • Experience in Pediatric Audiology.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Audiologist (BSc in Audiology).
  • BSc/MSc in Audiology or HND with BAA Examinations Part I and II or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated post-qualification experience.
  • Pediatric experience.
  • British Sign Language qualification Level 2.
  • Relevant specialist clinical training.
