Blackburn College is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment where every student can thrive. We are seeking a passionate and experienced leader to champion our commitment to inclusion as the Head of Inclusion.

In this pivotal role, you will guide and manage the College's support systems for students with diverse needs, encompassing those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Additional Learning Support (ALS) requirements, and those participating in Foundation Learning and Supported Internships. Your leadership will also extend to supporting 14-16 Early College Transfers and engaging Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET) students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and inspire the SEND, ALS, and Foundation Learning teams to deliver exceptional support and teaching experiences.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of Supported Internships, ensuring they effectively meet the needs of our students and local employers.
  • Collaborate closely with curriculum leaders to ensure a seamless transition and continued success for 14-16 Early College Transfers.
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to engage and retain NEET students, providing them with personalized support to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Cultivate a culture of inclusivity and equity across the College, guaranteeing that all students have access to the resources and support they need to excel.
  • Forge strong partnerships with external agencies, local authorities, and employers to enhance the College's inclusive offerings.
  • Advocate for students with additional needs, ensuring their voices are central to shaping policies and practices.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of inclusive practices and interventions, driving ongoing improvement.
