Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Central Finance division for a Lead Financial Analyst. The key responsibilities of this role include facilitating the organization’s monthly financial reporting to the governing board and producing monthly financial dashboards for budget managers. Additionally, the position will assist in the enhancement of all systems that generate financial data or provide insights that aid in financial decision-making.

We seek a proactive and enthusiastic individual to contribute to the growth of the Central Finance Team. The ideal candidate should possess a professional accounting qualification (CCAB, CIMA, or equivalent) or have substantial relevant experience in exceptional cases. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver comprehensive financial support, information, and advisory services to budget managers and senior leaders in central departments.

This role offers a flexible working arrangement, allowing for a combination of on-site and remote work, which will be discussed with the line manager.

Main Responsibilities

1. Facilitate the organization’s monthly financial reporting to the governing board and the creation of monthly financial dashboards for budget managers.

2. Assist in the preparation of the organization’s annual budgets.

3. Provide an overview of the financial management services to budget and service managers, including specialized advice to ensure the optimal, economical, and efficient use of resources.

4. Serve as a comprehensive and responsive technical financial resource to support business transformation, development, service enhancement, commercial initiatives, and the execution of financial plans.

5. Collaborate with the Group Operational Management Team to identify Group objectives that align with the strategic vision of the organization.

6. Act as a deputy for the Deputy Head of Management Accounts and Head of Business Development as needed, particularly on matters related to this role.

7. Monitor and support the financial contract between the organization and its related subsidiaries.

8. Assist the Heads of Business Development and Head of Financial Delivery in understanding the business needs of the Groups and Services, and help devise solutions to meet these requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Professional accounting qualification (CCAB, CIMA, or equivalent) or significant relevant experience (5 years) in exceptional circumstances.
  • Extensive management accounting experience.
  • Proficient in using financial ledger systems and spreadsheets.
  • Experience in managing relationships across various disciplines within the organization and with external contacts.
  • Experience in staff management.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, including knowledge of Standing Orders, Board powers, and NHS Finance Manual.
  • Good working knowledge of the financial/business environment of a large, complex NHS Trust.
  • Expertise in budget setting and budgetary control practices.
  • Familiarity with internal control and internal audit requirements.
