Position Overview

Role Objective

The primary aim is to deliver comprehensive financial and commercial guidance to the executive leadership.

To ensure all financial reporting obligations are met, including monthly management reports, quarterly projections, and annual financial plans.

To act as the main point of contact for external statutory and CASS audits, overseeing the preparation of statutory financial statements.

To ensure compliance with all necessary regulatory submissions, including FCA, CASS, and HMRC requirements.

To uphold the accuracy of financial records and maintain strong financial governance.

To inspire and lead team members, fostering a culture of financial awareness throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guarantee timely and accurate processing of all transactions (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, etc.) within the financial ledgers.
  • Enhance cash flow management by ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial ledgers through the preparation and posting of journal entries.
  • Conduct reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Generate monthly management reports and provide insights into key variances.
  • Assist the executive leadership in the development of quarterly forecasts and annual financial plans.
  • Manage the Fixed Asset register and update prepayments and accruals on a monthly basis.
  • Adhere to all standards set forth in ISO27001, ensuring confidentiality, integrity, and availability at all times.
  • Operate in alignment with OPAL's ISO Data Protection and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) policies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a degree and a full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA), with training from a Top 10 firm.
  • A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, preferably within the financial services sector.
  • Proficient in financial accounting and financial planning & analysis (FP&A).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • High levels of personal gravitas.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change.

Additional Competencies for Full Proficiency


• Familiarity with SAGE Line 50.


• Understanding of financial services markets, including current trends and products related to investments and insurance.


• Basic knowledge of regulatory frameworks.


• Awareness of HMRC regulations and reporting obligations.


• Capability to communicate effectively and resolve issues related to Client Money requirements.
