About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer to join our team at Morson Talent. As a Senior Design Engineer, you will play a key role in providing technical design solutions for water and/or wastewater treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Agree on design milestones with the Project Manager and support them in defining contractual outputs for successful project delivery.
  • Conduct feasibility evaluations within project timescales and budgets, and develop innovative and efficient design solutions.
  • Proactively manage risks, maintaining risk registers throughout the design process, and ensure health and safety considerations are integrated into the lifecycle of the design.
  • Approve designs, ensuring they meet project specifications and standards, and coach and develop team members to build capability within the design team.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in designing and specifying for commercial negotiations.
  • Proven track record of innovation in water or similar industries.
  • Experience in implementing CDM regulations in the design process.
  • Strong experience in working closely with supply chains to ensure project delivery meets H&S, quality, and output requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence a variety of stakeholders to achieve design objectives.
Capabilities
  • Strong communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to challenge designs to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Commercial awareness, including managing budgets, timelines, and suppliers.
  • Proactive problem solver with strong decision-making skills.

  • Strong personal discipline in following design standards and H&S regulations.

Qualifications
  • Chartered Engineer (or equivalent experience).
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Desirable: Full membership or near-membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE, CIWEM, I Mech E).
