Role Overview:


In the capacity of Senior Engineering Leader, you will spearhead the maintenance and engineering division, enhancing performance against critical KPIs while managing a committed team of engineers.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the engineering budget, ensuring compliance with health & safety standards, and playing a crucial role in ongoing improvement initiatives throughout the department.

This position demands a hands-on leadership approach, where you will guide your team and collaborate closely with other departments to achieve engineering excellence.

You will be responsible for a total team of 15 individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and surpass engineering KPIs.
  • Daily management of the engineering department at our Airdrie facility.
  • Oversee and manage the engineering budget.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Engineering and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead engineering projects that support business goals.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance the engineering team's performance.
  • Advocate for and implement lean methodologies and processes.
  • Ensure effective responses to Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) and breakdown repairs.
  • Manage and maintain the PPM system (MMP) and contractor compliance via Q rims.
  • Support the development of group engineering strategy.
  • Ensure health & safety compliance within the department and manage related documentation.
  • Collaborate with other managers to deliver solutions and report on engineering activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in managing large teams within a food or similar FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive background in budget management and cost control.
  • Proficiency in engineering systems management (MMP and Qrims).
  • Strong knowledge of continuous improvement, resource planning, and metal detection principles.
  • Ideally, you will possess an engineering degree or a minimum of HND in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Health & Safety qualifications and/or significant experience in this area.
