About Us

Are you ready to transform the landscape of social care?
Oxfordshire County Council is embarking on an innovative journey towards Delivering the Future Together, a bold transformation initiative aimed at becoming a premier employer, partner, and community influencer. We are in search of dedicated individuals who can contribute to this vision while embodying our value of 'daring to do it differently' as we continuously strive for improvement.

In the realm of Adult Services, we are committed to redefining adult social care by empowering Oxfordshire's residents to maintain their health, fitness, and independence within their communities through a strengths-based methodology. Collaborating with local NHS services, care providers, and community organizations, we harness our collective strengths, united by a common goal.

Our approach places the individuals we support at the center of our efforts. By actively listening and focusing on the positive aspects of their lives, we work together to help them achieve their desired outcomes with the appropriate support. This philosophy, known as the Oxfordshire Way, is rooted in our proactive and positive approach to social care, offering everyone the chance to make a significant impact. We are ambitious and committed to continuous improvement; it is part of our core values.

About the Role and Team

Our team empowers you to provide tailored solutions that assist individuals in reaching their personal goals and aspirations.

We achieve this through our commitment to granting you the autonomy to perform your role, innovate, and explore new methodologies, supported by our stable leadership team, regular group and individual supervision, and opportunities for growth across various aspects of Adult Social Care. A career with Oxfordshire County Council opens doors to diverse opportunities within Social Care, including leadership roles, clinical assessments, prison work, mobility and handling, and assistive technology.

No two days are alike at Oxfordshire County Council. Whatever your professional ambitions in adult social care, we are here to support and empower you to take charge of your development.

As a financially stable local authority, our investment in Adult Services has led to multiple openings; we are seeking both Newly Qualified and Experienced Occupational Therapists, as well as Newly Qualified and Experienced Social Workers to join our teams during this exciting period of growth.

In collaboration with Occupational Therapists and Social Workers within a locality, hospital environment, or safeguarding team, you will:

Empower community members to recognize their strengths and desired outcomes, embracing innovative ideas and methods to enhance and sustain their independence.

  • Utilize a strengths-based approach to foster individual well-being and help them achieve their goals.
  • Support individuals and caregivers to ensure their voices are heard through advocacy when necessary.

About You

You are:

  • Motivated to approach challenges creatively, finding solutions collaboratively with individuals rather than for them.
  • Accountable and a self-starter, eager to lead your community in various areas of adult social care.
  • Compassionate and understanding, respecting the unique qualities, abilities, and diverse backgrounds of individuals.
  • An advocate for equality and integrity, employing strong communication skills to work collaboratively for optimal outcomes.
  • Committed to continuous learning, possessing a solid understanding of legislation and statutory guidance, with inherent entrepreneurial qualities.
  • Passionate about adhering to the professional standards set by RCOT and HCPC.

Our Rewards and Benefits

Enjoy up to 33 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase additional days.

  • Membership in the Local Government contributory pension scheme, with employer contributions of up to 19.9%.
  • Relocation assistance up to a maximum of £8,000 for newly appointed employees (conditions apply in line with council policy).
  • Regular formal and informal support and supervision.
  • Access to local and national discounts for shopping and travel.
  • Extensive opportunities for Continuous Professional Development, including a career progression scheme with options to train as a Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor, or Adult Mental Health Practitioner.

Are you a qualified Social Worker or Occupational Therapist considering a return to Adult Social Care?

If you are eager to resume practice but require support to re-register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), we would like to hear from you.
