Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Student Services Advisor to join our team at Blue Octopus Recruitment Ltd. As a Student Services Advisor, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive and flexible support, information, advice, and guidance to learners to improve their likelihood of successful completion of their program and progression into further education, training, and/or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide holistic support to learners, tailored to their individual needs, to safeguard their well-being and promote their academic success.
  • Work closely with students, staff, and external organizations to ensure seamless support and guidance.
  • Develop and deliver student workshops and tutorials to engage learners with the wider community of college life and prepare them for life in society.
  • Collaborate with the local authority on child in need and child protection plans to ensure effective support and guidance.
  • Use successful strategies to re-engage disengaged or disaffected learners with education or training.
  • Market and record all service provision effectively, utilizing strong IT skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with post-16 education services and the issues that transition from pre to post-16 education may have for young people or those who have been out of education for a while.

Requirements:

  • Level 4 IAG qualification or another appropriate area (Youth & Community, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care) is desirable.
  • Proven experience of working in a safeguarding capacity with young people and knowledge of safeguarding legislations and practices in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with a wide range of customers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality support and guidance.
