Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Traffic Signal Technician to join our team. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and removal of temporary traffic signals across various locations.

Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary structure comprising a base salary complemented by additional earnings through an out-of-hours bonus. The total compensation package includes:

  • Comprehensive Training
  • Company Vehicle for Work Purposes
  • Fuel Card for Work-Related Travel
  • Overtime Rates: 50% for Monday to Thursday nights, 80% for Friday to Sunday nights
  • On-Call Payment: £10 per day
  • Accommodation and £30 meal allowance when traveling for work

Key Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is to ensure the effective installation and maintenance of traffic signals while adhering to stringent health and safety standards. Responsibilities include:

  • Handling and lifting equipment and cables.
  • Installing overhead wiring.
  • Transporting materials from storage to the work vehicle.
  • Operating company vehicles, including vans and pickups.
  • Relocating equipment between various sites.
  • Participating in an on-call rotation.
  • Completing necessary reports using mobile applications.
  • Occasionally staying overnight to fulfill job requirements.

Work Environment

While the primary base of operations is located in Coventry, flexibility is required as assignments may extend to other regions, necessitating overnight stays.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility, as our services are available 24/7 throughout the year. This role will involve working a mix of day and night shifts, with additional compensation for on-call duties. Essential qualifications include:

  • Background in electrical work.
  • Reliability and adaptability.
  • Willingness to work predominantly night shifts.
  • Ability to work outside of standard hours and be on-call.
  • Comfort with heights.
  • Valid driving license with minimal points.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a highway setting.
  • Familiarity with traffic signal systems.
  • CSCScardholder.
  • IPAF certification.
  • NPOR competency card.
  • Forklift license.

Training opportunities for IPAF and NPOR certification may be provided as needed. All necessary personal protective equipment and training will be supplied to ensure successful job performance.
