Job Summary

The Police ICT is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Incident Lead to join our team. As a Cyber Incident Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating and effectively reporting cyber security incidents within the National Management Centre (NMC). This role requires a strong background in incident management, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and report cyber security incidents within the NMC, supporting customers with incidents at local and national levels.
  • Progress and review customer Cyber Incident Response plans.
  • Deliver Cyber Incident coaching and exercising to customers to improve their Incident Response capabilities.
  • Review and proactively test customers' Cyber Incident Response processes through cyber exercises.
  • Check playbooks/processes have been followed both internally and externally.
  • Continuously improve Incident Management/Response Processes.
  • Ascertain Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities.
  • Collaborate with the wider NMC teams and external customer/partners as necessary.
  • Create, develop, and facilitate incident exercises for customers – Cyber Incident readiness exercising.
  • Arrange, conduct, and facilitate internal Post Incident Reviews.
  • Act as a driver for resolution of any Post Incident Review actions, whether internal or external.
  • Act as a key stakeholder on behalf of the National Management Centre in customers' Post Incident Reviews.
  • Participate in an on-call rota for engagement out of hours, with a maximum of one week in every three.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a commercial/public body environment, with a history in incident management.
  • Experience of stakeholder management and influencing skills dealing with complex issues.
  • A genuine enthusiasm and drive to work within Cyber Security, and drive improvement within the team.
  • Motivated and ambitious to work on your own initiative without needing direction.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Ability to convey technical speak into plain English.
  • A proven ability to coach and mentor.
  • Ability to acquire SC and NPPV3 level clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a fast-paced operational security environment.
  • Relevant Security or Incident Management qualification.

Working Arrangements

The National Management Centre offers hybrid working, allowing employees to balance face-to-face team engagement and home working. NMC employees have the opportunity to work in our modern office environment for in-person collaboration, with the option to work from home two days a week. Please note that the NMC will be relocating to offices in the Wigan area in Q3 of 2025.

Clearance Requirements

All applicants must be eligible for NPPV3 and SC clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been approved before starting with the Police ICT.
