Workshop Engineer Job Description

Bennett & Game Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Workshop Engineer to join our client's team. As a Workshop Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy plant machinery, ensuring it is in peak operating condition.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and diagnose technical problems with equipment, including climbing on top and underneath heavy plant machinery.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure machinery is in good working order.
  • Drive and move machines inside and outside of the workshop, using lifting equipment as necessary.
  • Service a wide range of heavy tracked plant machines, including investigating and diagnosing technical problems.
  • Supervise other workshop engineers to ensure high-quality work and safe working procedures are maintained.
  • Cover for the foreman when absent or on annual leave, ensuring continuity of work.
  • Assist in booking machines in and out, ensuring they are ready for transport collections.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures, including the Company Health and Safety Policy.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, with a solid mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to service a wide range of heavy tracked plant machines, including investigating and diagnosing technical problems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Benefits:
  • Salary: £15-£18 an hour (potentially £19 an hour).
  • Working hours: 40 hours a week, with overtime available.
