Team Structure

You will be part of our Safety Engineering Team, which is dedicated to crafting safety concepts, solutions, and justifications to achieve safety and facilitate autonomy through rigorous safety engineering practices.

Position Overview

As the Lead Safety and Cyber Security Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to establish cyber safety considerations for the Core Safety Case of our products. You will collaborate closely with core safety engineers to ensure platform safety and with application safety engineers on customer projects to align the Core Safety Case with their specific needs. Additionally, you will work with the Autonomy Assurance team to ensure compliance with safety-related cyber security regulations.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct and facilitate safety-oriented cyber security analyses, including Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA) and attack tree methodologies.
  • Identify and derive safety-critical cyber security requirements, ensuring their effective implementation and monitoring.
  • Assist developers in the execution of safety-focused cyber security mitigations.
  • Advise on and implement relevant cyber security standards and processes that support Oxa's safety framework.
  • Serve as a key resource on safety-related cyber security issues, collaborating with various teams to meet applicable safety and cyber security laws and regulations.
  • Lead technical evaluations of the impact of cyber security on safety-critical architectures and components, negotiating solutions with stakeholders.
  • Support the validation of safety-relevant cyber security measures.
  • Contribute to the safety argumentation concerning cyber security threats and vulnerabilities.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as engineering or science.
  • A background in cyber security with an emphasis on safety considerations.
  • Hands-on experience in identifying cyber threats, conducting cyber security analyses, and performing risk assessments.
  • A comprehensive understanding of how cyber security vulnerabilities can lead to safety-critical hazardous situations.
  • Experience with various cyber security mitigation strategies, along with an understanding of their respective advantages and challenges.
  • The ability to build relationships and engage with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in metrics and data analysis.
  • Formal knowledge of ISO 21434 standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in research and development within the autonomous driving sector.
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262, ISO 21448, UL4600, PAS 1881:2022, and SAE J3016 standards.
  • A proven ability to adapt in dynamic environments, as our company is continuously evolving.
  • A customer-focused mindset, with an ability to anticipate and prioritize customer needs.
