Job Title: Academic Support Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Academic Support Assistant to join our team at Academics. As a Special Education Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting children with additional learning needs and challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with Special Educational Needs, including those with mental health difficulties and learning disabilities such as Autism.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement behavior management plans.
  • Assist with lesson planning and delivery, adapting materials to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles.
  • Support students with challenging behavior, using positive reinforcement techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Collaborate with the school's mental health team to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Graduate or experienced teaching assistant with a degree graded 2:2 or above.
  • Previous experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and challenging behavior.
  • Excellent behavior management skills and ability to work with students who require restraint training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and parents.
