The Role

We are seeking compassionate and reliable support workers to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with disabilities by:

  • Providing personalized assistance with daily living activities, such as housework, personal hygiene, and meal preparation, tailored to each individual's needs and goals outlined in their care plan.
  • Facilitating access to community events, services, and social outings, promoting inclusion and enriching the lives of our clients.
  • Maintaining accurate records, including progress notes for each shift and incident reports as required, ensuring clear communication and documentation.
  • Delivering support in a person-centered manner that encourages independence, skill development, and personal growth.
  • Creating a stimulating, caring, and culturally sensitive environment where individuals feel valued and respected.
  • Offering emotional support and assistance with self-care needs as required, fostering well-being and a sense of belonging.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries throughout all interactions, ensuring ethical and respectful care.
  • Communicating effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination of care.
Requirements

This role is ideal for candidates who possess:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • A genuine passion for working in the disability sector and a commitment to providing high-quality care.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

In addition, successful candidates will have:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent (preferred).
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willingness to obtain).
  • COVID-19 Infection Control Certificate (completed previously or willingness to obtain).
  • NSW Driver's License.
  • Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle.
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificates.

Previous experience in a similar role, mental health first aid training, medication management training, experience managing challenging behaviors, and manual handling experience, including hoisting, are highly desirable qualifications for this position. Experience assisting individuals with bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, and intellectual disabilities will be particularly valued.
