Geospatial Data Science Research Associate/Fellow

Job Purpose

To make a significant contribution to the advancement of Geospatial Data Science at the University of Glasgow, this research associate/fellow will work with Professor Ana Basiri and the Geospatial Data Science Group.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Contribute to the Development of Geospatial AI Tools
  2. Deliver World-Leading Research
  3. Develop Career and Team through Delivering High-Impact Outputs
  4. Supervise PhD and MSc Students
  5. Present at Conferences, Seminars, and Workshops

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Investigate and Develop Generative Geospatial AI and Large Language Models
  2. Develop Innovative GeoAI Solutions by Combining Geospatial Data with OpenAI's and/or Similar API Offerings
  3. Study and Develop Applications using Existing Large Language Models
  4. Study and Use Relevant Techniques including Prompt Engineering, Data Ingest, and Transformation Techniques
  5. Collaborate with the Geospatial Data Science Team at the University of Glasgow and Collaborators
  6. Develop and Enhance Research Profile and Reputation
  7. Support and Contribute to FAIR Principles
  8. Engage in Personal, Professional, and Career Development

Knowledge and Qualifications

  1. PhD in a Relevant Academic/Research Discipline
  2. Extensive Knowledge of Foundations of AI
  3. Deep Understanding of OpenAI's and/or Similar API Offerings

Experience

  1. Sufficient Depth of Relevant Research Experience
  2. Experience in Projects Involving the Application of OpenAI and/or Similar APIs
  3. Proven Ability to Deliver Quality Outputs in a Timely Manner
  4. Evidence of an Emerging Track Record of Publications
