Job Summary
The Night Shunter will be responsible for ensuring the timely movement of trailers, on and off loading bays, and delivering shunt loads from one location to another, as instructed, in line with Company standards and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- To place trailers to the required areas as per instructions
- To use two-way radios to maintain communication with areas of the operation as necessary
- To conduct all safety checks, as designated by the company
- To report defects, accident damage, and any incidents as soon as they are found
- To ensure fridges are set at the correct temperature, in line with loaded product temperature requirements
- To ensure fridge diesel tanks have adequate fuel at all times
- To maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when communicating with colleagues
- To report any breaches in speed limits by drivers and subcontractors to the transport department
- To maintain vehicle parking area layouts as they should be and report any issues of debris to the site services team
- To ensure company standards of hygiene and housekeeping, in your areas of work, are maintained at all times
- To ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation
Requirements
- Working with and driving LGVs is desirable
- Previous shunting experience
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment
- Teamworking
- Written and verbal communication
- Driving for excellence
- Ability to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurized environment
- Self-disciplined and motivated
