Pension Payroll Trainee

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our pensions payroll team as a trainee. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and management of pensioner payroll processes for clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation and management of pensioner payroll processes for clients
  • Ensure payroll changes are recorded correctly on the work management system and processed according to agreed procedures and timescales
  • Reconcile payroll costs and charges against the pensions administration database, ensuring PAYE deductions are made and paid within statutory deadlines
  • Produce and distribute annual P60s
  • Ensure payments to pensioners, HMRC, and other third-party bodies are made on a timely basis and with agreed controls
  • Answer telephone and written queries from pensioners, colleagues, partners, and clients in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with agreed payroll deadlines and maintain up-to-date team planners and payroll calendars
  • Support other team members and maintain payroll and ancillary systems
  • Advise and assist pensions administration teams on payroll matters
  • Issue payslips to pensioners within agreed timescales, ensuring they are sent to confirmed and up-to-date addresses
Requirements:
  • Educated to 'A' level, degree level, or equivalent with GCSEs at grades 4 to 9 (A* to C) including maths
  • Previous office experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and related Office packages
  • Accuracy and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong maths skills with the ability to spot numerical errors
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to work on your own initiative and be a team player
