About the Role:
HFG is seeking a skilled Development Underwriter to join their growing team at a leading Lloyd's MGA. The successful candidate will be responsible for expanding the company's presence in the West Midlands area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Collaborate with key brokers in the region to increase new business activity and build positive relationships.
- Underwriting: Review and underwrite new business quotations across all products within the company's underwriting appetite, including any queries within the SLAs of the business.
- Broker Engagement: Undertake broker visits and underwriting surgeries at broker offices to increase brand awareness and establish contacts.
- Escalation Point: Serve as an escalation point for key brokers.
- Stakeholder Management: Liaise and establish good working relations with the technical underwriting team and key stakeholders.
- Strategic Planning: Regular communication with business development managers and regional directors to develop and maintain broker relationships and strategic planning.
- Team Collaboration: Act as a referral point for underwriters within the wider team and work closely with the underwriting team to ensure that all work is completed within SLAs and maintain broker relationships by offering a high level of customer service.
- Compliance: Operate in accordance with the underwriting license provided, utilize the underwriting guide, and collaborate with senior colleagues.
- Initiative and Improvement: Take initiative to improve work processes and promote overall corporate goals.
- Work Environment: Home-based with occasional visits to the London office when necessary.
