Job Title: Production Manager - Operations

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager - Operations to lead and manage all aspects of production within our section. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering an effective and efficient operation against daily and shift targets and plans, while providing a centre of excellence approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage Production Operations: Lead and manage all aspects of production within the section, ensuring that products are unloaded, labelled, palletised, and transferred to the relevant storage areas as appropriate.
  2. Meet with Production Shift Managers: Meet regularly with other Production Shift Managers to effectively plan and manage resourcing across all lines within the packhouse.
  3. Manage Line Leaders: Manage the Line Leaders to achieve daily output, yield, packing efficiency, and quality requirements for each product run, ensuring that out-load times and volumes are achieved at all times.
  4. Identify Training Needs: Identify any training needs within your team and liaise with the training team to address these gaps.
  5. Monitor Pack Rates: Monitor pack rates against targets and pro-actively look for ways to make the business more efficient.
  6. Operational Matters: Ensure that all operational matters are owned and resolved efficiently and in line with all legal requirements.
  7. Preventive Maintenance: Engage and coordinate in preventive maintenance schedules and continuous improvements.
  8. People Management: Coach and develop direct reports in people management activities and ensure that appraisals are carried out for all employees within the given timescales.
  9. Scheduling: In conjunction with planning teams, schedule day-to-day packing operations to achieve the operational KPI's.
  10. Communication: Work alongside other Managers to ensure communication, best practice, and efficiency is continually reviewed and improved upon.
  11. Safety and Hygiene: Ensure that the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and housekeeping are maintained, and that the required levels of training are achieved and that Company standards and procedures are followed at all times.
  12. BRC Requirements: Ensure that all BRC requirements for the site are met and adhered to and that the site is kept to an auditable standard at all times.
  13. Agency Staff: Liaise with other Production Shift Managers to agree numbers and arrange ordering of agency staff on a day-to-day basis.
  14. Labour and Machine Usage: Support the Operations Management Team in the forward planning of labour and machine usage.
  15. People Issues: Ensure that all people issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively in line with Company Policy.

Requirements:

  1. Team Leading Experience: Experience of team leading in a fresh produce/food production environment.
  2. Labour-Intensive Environment: Experience in a labour-intensive, high volumes environment ideally FMCG.
  3. Quality Focused Role: Experience of working in a quality focused role.
  4. KPI Delivery: Experience delivering teams to set KPI's.
  5. Machinery Knowledge: Knowledge of Top seal, Flow wrap, or punnet line machinery.
  6. Deadlines and Pressure: Ability to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  7. Planning and Organisation: Good planning and organisational skills.
  8. Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills.
