Job Summary:

The Packaging Controls Engineer will be responsible for developing electrical designs and controls for new and existing equipment, ensuring seamless integration into the manufacturing environment. This role will also involve supporting improvement of existing product ranges, optimizing lean manufacturing processes, and providing technical expertise to the team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and document software programs to ensure compliance with company standards
  • Produce and manage HMI and operation manuals, ensuring timely updates and changes
  • Assist in testing machines to ensure they meet customer requirements and company standards
  • Manage bills of materials for new projects, ensuring they meet budget and customer specifications
  • Proactively pursue personal development and stay up-to-date with industry trends
  • Provide full support across the business to meet company objectives and direct customer solutions
  • Lead electrical design details and software controls solutions, using software and partnerships to develop and improve tooling electrical software design
  • Support the management and development of product legislation and product marking compliance
  • Provide accurate quotes to project management for potential improvements through manufacturing lean efforts
  • Support, coach, and mentor apprentice staff, working closely with other members of the business to ensure customer requirements are achieved
  • Work with Purchasing & suppliers to ensure technical, manufacturing, and quality aspects are monitored through equipment assembly development
  • Take direct feedback from staff to improve electrical and/or controls designs, supporting additional upgrades/servicing after production release
  • Drive and promote Lean Manufacturing techniques, working with site to implement improvements to make equipment integration more effective
Requirements:
  • PLC experience on multiple platforms
  • Robotics experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Effective Communication skills, influencing, and persuasive skills
  • Understanding of electromechanical design for manufacture and assembly using CAD systems
  • Good understanding of machine directives H&S
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs
