An exciting opportunity has emerged for a Band 7 Speech & Language Therapist to join our dynamic team. This role involves delivering exceptional rehabilitation services either at home or in outpatient settings, facilitating the transition of stroke patients from hospital care to community rehabilitation.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team to provide community services throughout the region and will engage directly with the broader Allied Health Professional (AHP) stroke rehabilitation team. This position requires in-depth knowledge of complex swallowing and communication disorders, particularly in the context of stroke recovery. Additionally, the post holder will extend support to the SLT team in managing various neurological conditions and dementia. Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems is advantageous.
The role encompasses work across multiple environments, including hospitals, patients' residences, and care facilities. There will also be opportunities for in-reach activities within the stroke rehabilitation unit.
The Adult Acquired SLT Service operates across the Tayside region, with regular local and regional meetings to enhance collaboration. You will work in tandem with the SLT team on patient management, quality audits, and service enhancement initiatives. We prioritize professional development and provide distinct line management and clinical supervision to ensure optimal clinical outcomes.
Applicants must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and possess the ability to travel as required.
Working hours are set at 37 hours per week, with consideration for part-time arrangements or employment at Band 6 level based on your qualifications and experience.
NHS Scotland is transitioning to a 37-hour working week starting from April 2024, with no changes to salary. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. While some service areas may not immediately implement the new hours, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes weekly temporarily, for which you will be compensated until the service adapts its schedules.
