Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Services Manager to join our team at York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (LLP). The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational leadership and management of maintenance technical teams to maximise effectiveness, utilisation and functionality of staff resources, equipment and materials.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead Authorised Person (AP) for Low and High voltage systems and LOLER.
  • Ensure that all appropriate legislation and national NHS guidance (HTM's and HBN's) is followed in these disciplines to maintain compliance.
  • Coordinate the activity of other AP's and ensure that all junior members of the team are suitably trained and appointed annually as competent/skilled persons.
  • Produce monthly productivity and exception reports for their area of control, ensuring the department continually strives to improve.
  • Oversee the installation of new equipment and ensure it meets the standards contained within national guidance documents and is environmentally sustainable.
  • Deputise for the Head of Estates in their absence and will be an active member of the Estates Management On-Call rota, providing management and technical support where required to junior members of the team.
About the Role

This is a critical role within the Estates Department, requiring advanced technical and professional engineering knowledge of electrical systems as used within healthcare settings. The successful candidate will need to enjoy working flexibly, responding to varying demands and changing circumstances. Communication and strong team leadership are essential qualities to succeed in this role.

Person Specification
  • Formal training/experience Schneider Controls computer control equipment.
  • Formal training/experience fire alarm systems.
  • Formal training/experience Legionella awareness.
  • Specialist expertise in Health service knowledge across a range of technical subjects, to enable them to oversee statutory required tasks in the areas.
  • Project Management.
