Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Services Manager to join our team at York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (LLP). The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational leadership and management of maintenance technical teams to maximise effectiveness, utilisation and functionality of staff resources, equipment and materials.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as the lead Authorised Person (AP) for Low and High voltage systems and LOLER.
  • Ensure that all appropriate legislation and national NHS guidance (HTM's and HBN's) is followed in these disciplines to maintain compliance.
  • Coordinate the activity of other AP's and ensure that all junior members of the team are suitably trained and appointed annually as competent/skilled persons.
  • Produce monthly productivity and exception reports for their area of control, ensuring the department continually strives to improve.
  • Oversee the installation of new equipment and ensure it meets the standards contained within national guidance documents and is environmentally sustainable.
About the Role

The Electrical Services Manager will deputise for the Head of Estates in their absence and will be an active member of the Estates Management On-Call rota, providing management and technical support where required to junior members of the team.

Person Specification
  • Formal training/experience Schneider Controls computer control equipment.
  • Formal training/experience fire alarm systems.
  • Formal training/experience Legionella awareness.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Specialist expertise in Health service knowledge across a range of technical subjects, to enable them to oversee statutory required tasks in the areas.
  • Project Management.
Skills and Attributes
  • Contractor Control.
  • Good interpersonal skills with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Maintaining positive Staff Side (Trade Union) relations.
Education, Qualifications and Training
  • Degree level qualification in a relevant electrical engineering discipline (or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience).
  • Demonstrable practical certification in electrical subjects to be able to fulfil the Authorised persons aspects of the role.
  • Knowledge of current legislation and regulations related to electrical engineering Services, Health and Safety and the Health Service.
