Job Title: Multi-Skilled Engineer

White & Clayton Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and skilled Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Engineer to deliver safe and efficient frontline reactive maintenance services. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and resolving root causes to restore equipment to full operational capacity and implementing cost-effective improvements to enhance the efficiency and reliability of site assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Planned and Preventative Maintenance: Carry out maintenance tasks to agreed schedules, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and functioning within optimal parameters.
  • Effective Handover of Information: Ensure seamless communication with colleagues, providing clear and concise information to support effective handover of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Use of PMS: Utilize the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) to support prioritization and problem-solving, diagnosing faults and testing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Machinery and Component Defects: Observe, recognize, and report on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure, providing CMMS data to support proactive maintenance.
  • Technical Support: Contact OEMs and other suppliers for technical support as required, expediting parts when not available on site.
  • Shift-Based Problem Solving: Lead shift-based problem-solving where corrective actions are not clear, working collaboratively with colleagues to resolve issues.
  • Collaboration with Site Functions: Work as ONE TEAM with other site functions to deliver the service, RFT agenda on a day-to-day basis.
  • Improvement Identification and Implementation: Identify improvements and implement with support from the line manager, driving continuous improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Life Cycle Issues: Identify life cycle issues and raise these with possible recommendations, ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and replaced as needed.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Use and support simple 5WHY OE techniques/RCA techniques through to 100-year fix, ensuring that root causes are identified and addressed.
  • Departmental Programmes: Use and support departmental programmes for workshops and stores workplace management, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and stored.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Continuous transfer of knowledge and best practice, ensuring that all colleagues are up-to-date with the latest techniques and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Engineering Experience: Exposure to engineering-based operational efficiency programmes, with a similar role of supporting site strategy for Quality/HS/EMS/Engineering.
  • Improvement Activities: Supporting improvement activities/events within facilities and engineering-owned areas, with a focus on delivering on the job training (show and tell) to new colleagues.
  • Health and Safety: Delivering on the job training (show and tell) to new colleagues, with a focus on Health and Safety of self and others.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 Qualification – Mechanical and/or Electrical Bias 'Train the trainer' Training.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to have own ideas and deliver these to improve the business, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Training and Development: Piranna Systems Training (Desirable), Operational Measures OEM Training/Site Specific equipment training (Desirable), and relevant Health & Safety Modules.
  • Project Management: Ability to work to deadlines, with effective project management skills and the ability to provide 'on the job coaching' and gain support from shift leaders.
