About the Integration Team

The Integration team at Iceland Food Group is dedicated to managing all aspects of integration. Our development team consists of several squads, each led by a senior engineer and supported by junior engineers. Each squad is responsible for a specific portfolio of products, ensuring a focused approach to development.

We adopt a cloud-first strategy, utilizing microservices hosted in Microsoft Azure, with a strong emphasis on Azure's Serverless offerings and contemporary engineering practices.

Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining integration services based on Azure. You will also provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members. This hands-on position requires adherence to best practices in integration and cloud engineering, ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions. Key responsibilities include:

Team Leadership

  • Mentoring and managing junior engineers.
  • Collaborating with the Software Development Manager and Principal Engineers to enhance the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to meet squad and team needs.
  • Working alongside Business Analysts and testers to create robust solutions that fulfill business requirements.

Product Management

  • Ensuring comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for products, including best practices and support guides.
  • Identifying and managing risks related to products, such as outdated software and architectural vulnerabilities.
  • Assisting in the resolution of technical debt.
  • Establishing an effective support model and monitoring its success.
  • Maintaining quality standards from unit testing to automated integration testing.

Technology Exploration

  • Staying informed about new technological advancements and evaluating their applicability to our products.
  • Experimenting with new technologies to address current business challenges.
  • Conducting knowledge-sharing sessions to present new technologies to interested colleagues.

Collaboration is essential in this role, and the Senior Software Engineer will work closely with Principal Engineers, the Software Development Manager, and the Solutions Architect to achieve team objectives.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a C#, .NET Engineer, ready to advance to a senior leadership role.
  • Experience in mentoring junior engineers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure, Terraform, and C# within an integration context.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB, in a cloud setting is advantageous.
  • Experience with team collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
