Job Title: Principal Street Lighting Engineer

Cheshire West and Chester Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Street Lighting Engineer to join our Street Lighting and Traffic Signal team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and contribute to delivering services specific to Street Lighting Design. The role will require the use of knowledge, judgement and initiative whilst being supported by the wider team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out designs, inspections, analysing engineering problems, applying technical expertise and engineering judgement, and producing innovative solutions through the use of complex interactive computer systems.
  • Managing wide-ranging works and activities on the public highway, including liaising with and supervising developers/contractors during the construction of new infrastructure to be adopted as part of the highway network.
  • Dealing with correspondence and telephone enquiries and consulting with statutory undertakers, District and Parish councils, other Services and units of the Service.
  • Assisting the Team Leader for Street Lighting and Traffic Signals in controlling, monitoring and maximising budgets to ensure the cost-effective, efficient and economical management of the work programme.
  • Contributing to the continued development of the specific Service area through the direct management and training of staff, including the identification, planning and allocation of tasks/duties together with assisting in the personal development of these staff.
