About the Role

Barking & Dagenham College is seeking a dedicated and experienced Lecturer - SEND; Complex Needs to join our team. As a key member of our Horizons Department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education and support to our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans, including schemes of work, to cater to the diverse needs of our students.
  • Implement learner-centred assessment methods, focusing on constructive and developmental feedback to promote student growth.
  • Monitor and report on student attendance, progress, and achievements, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Undertake personal coaching and pastoral responsibilities for designated students, supporting their development and future progression.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments in your specialist area, ensuring the relevance and employability of our students.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, enhancing your knowledge and skills in education theory and practice.
Requirements
  • Possess a teaching qualification or be willing to undertake further education teaching qualification.
  • Hold a qualification in a relevant SEND subject specialism.
  • Meet the minimum requirements for Math and English Level 2.
  • Have at least 5 years of experience working with learners who have SEND.
  • Have at least 3 years of teaching experience in the SEND sector.
  • Experience working with young people in the Post 16 sector.
