As a Backend Java Engineer, you will be instrumental in architecting, developing, and sustaining the essential backend systems that drive our services. Our Cyber & Intelligence division in the UK merges contemporary software development methodologies with a rich legacy and expertise in the Defence and security sectors. Our clients possess intricate and sensitive data requirements, necessitating a mission partner who swiftly grasps the context, delivering and maintaining a portfolio of demanding technology projects at scale and speed, while supporting them through an ambitious digital transformation initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop robust and scalable backend applications utilizing modern technologies and best practices.
  • Engage in the complete software development lifecycle from requirements analysis to design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, frontend development, and quality assurance.
  • Mentor and guide junior developers, contributing to the overall growth of the team.

We are looking for:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Software Developer with a strong emphasis on Backend Java development and its ecosystem (Spring Boot, Maven).
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable backend systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization, deployment technologies, and cloud platforms (Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, ideally with some experience in agile methodologies.

Security clearance:

Due to the nature of our projects, you must meet specific nationality requirements for this clearance type.
