Our team is known for its diversity and positive environment, where we value every team member's contribution. We are currently seeking a Practice Education Facilitator Nurse to enhance our operations in Bristol.
The Critical Care Unit at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston is a General Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit that provides care for patients with a variety of specialties throughout the region. As a tertiary referral center, we handle emergencies, planned elective procedures, and long-term rehabilitation for critically ill patients.
As a Band 6 Critical Care Practice Education Facilitator, you will collaborate with the Band 7 Practice Education team to cultivate and sustain an effective learning atmosphere in clinical practice, focusing on the education and development of all staff within the unit.
Main Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support the implementation of in-service training and ongoing professional education for nursing personnel within the Critical Care Unit.
- Design, execute, and assess educational and training initiatives at suitable levels to uphold care standards in accordance with Trust and Critical Care SOPs and policies.
- Promote the advancement of evidence-based practices in Critical Care, disseminating best practices and addressing identified educational needs.
- Provide guidance and development for nursing staff at all levels through education and training, while maintaining a comprehensive staff development database.
- Maintain a significant clinical presence to assist staff in achieving their professional aspirations.
- Enhance staff retention by ensuring clinical support, boosting job satisfaction, and offering opportunities for personal growth.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Evidence of both informal and formal teaching.
- A portfolio demonstrating continuing professional development.
- Current knowledge of adult critical care nursing.
Desirable
- Experience in developing educational training packages.
- A broad understanding of the framework for pre and post-registration education in the UK and Europe.
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Expertise in Critical Care, maintaining professional competence and serving as a role model for staff.
- Responsibility for patient care and safety in specific clinical situations.
- Ability to manage databases effectively.
- Support the Band 7 Practice Educator in developing and maintaining a training and education database for critical care.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- 1st Level Registration.
- Post Registration Critical Care Diploma or Degree.
- Teaching and Assessment qualification.
- Bachelor's Degree or in progress.
- Evidence of a formal or informal teaching role.
Desirable
- PGCE qualification or willingness to pursue.
Aptitudes
Essential
