The Telegraph is seeking a talented Assistant Digital News Editor to contribute to our dynamic news department and support our digital subscriptions initiative. As an integral part of the newsroom, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality planning and publishing of digital news content for our audience.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the digital newsdesk during evening and weekend shifts, overseeing content production and distribution.
  • Collaborate closely with editors to commission and optimize subscription-focused digital content, driving reader engagement and conversions.
  • Coordinate effectively with various departments, including video, design, and social media, to ensure a cohesive and impactful online presence.
  • Respond swiftly and decisively to breaking news stories, crafting timely and accurate reports for our digital platforms.
  • Manage live blogs, providing real-time updates on developing events and engaging with our audience.
  • Represent the desk in conference and planning meetings, contributing your expertise and insights to editorial strategy.
  • Plan digital coverage for upcoming news events, ensuring comprehensive and timely reporting across all platforms.

  • Proven experience in digital editing within a national or regional newsroom environment.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content.

  • Excellent news judgment and a comprehensive understanding of current affairs.
